How Hydrofracturing Works

Hydrofracturing is a water well development process that involves injecting high-pressure water via the well into the bedrock formation immediately surrounding it.

Many older water wells in Ontario are not up to today’s Ministry of Environment Standards (M.O.E). These wells are at high risk for surface contamination such as coliforms, e-coli, and other pollutants, as many of these wells are in well pits.
